Karl Unnasch was first commissioned by the Rochester Arts Council to design and create the cast bronze trophies for the annual Ardee Awards in 2013.
The Ardee Awards celebrate the arts in Rochester — visual, performing arts and the humanities — and those who contribute to its culture as leaders, educators, or collaborators. They are named for Mayor Ardell Brede, who is widely considered the city's No. 1 supporter of the arts.
Award recipients are recognized every October at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester at The Fête – Celebrating Excellence in the Arts.
